Although he couldn't disclose spe- cifics, Masson noted that safety and security considerations, both passive and active, were integral to the design in order to facilitate effective monitor- ing and threat mitigation. PCL commenced construction in July of 2018, and the Abbotsford Law Courts officially opened for business on January 18, 2021. Masson says, "PCL kept the ball rolling despite the chal- lenges of developing a complex facility during the pandemic lockdowns. In fact, PCL managed to meet and beat its numerous production deadlines." Masson adds, "Without question PCL knows how to build, but the com- pany also has a special talent for truly listening to clients – and in a project such as the Courthouse with the com- plexity approximating that of some hospitals, clear lines of communica- tion were crucial." He goes on to credit the highly collaborative approach of all parties for the project's success. For his part, Casciato is pleased with the final outcome. He says, "We all worked in lockstep, and for me it was a pleasure to develop this facility with pro- fessionals of the calibre of PCL, Plenary, and the provin cial government."
