Patrick Li, project manager at ITC Construction AB Inc., says work pro- ceeded rapidly despite the advent of COVID: "We separated the trades into little cohorts, and long lead items like our windows, which had to be shipped from South Korea, were ordered well ahead of time." Felizardo adds, "We took an analyt- ical view of procurement, to the point where we purchased many critical path elements ahead of time includ- ing the building's elevator six month before it would actually be installed." Li credits rebar provider A&H Steel and Cemrock Concrete & Construction Ltd. for the rapid rise of the cast-in-place tower. "As soon as shipments of windows arrived they were installed," he says. "In a nut- shell, we started pouring concrete at the end of January 2020 and finished the building in October of that year, including two levels of underground parking. Originally the completion date for the entire project was this September, but we'll be finished ahead of schedule." For his part, Felizardo is extremely satisfied with the outcome. "This was the first tower to be built in Edmonton under the new R A9 guidelines and a true child of the pandemic inasmuch as it was designed and constructed almost entirely during the lock- downs," he says. "We were very fortunate to have a working group of professionals that were very flex- ible and adaptable as the situation unfolded. We are very pleased to add to Edmonton's skyline with CX, and also continue to contribute to the urbanization and revitalization of the downtown core".
