Durex Continuous Insulation Finishes Systems feature a 10-millimetre geometrically defined drainage cavity for drainage and accelerated drying of incidental moisture within the cavity wall, while retaining maximum insulation value. For new construction, restoration, exterior above-grade and interior protective projects, Durabond's Durex Protective Wall Coating Systems are cost-effective and help protect, maintain, and beautify most building surfaces and facades. They are available in anti-carbonation, elastomeric, textured, breathable, and direct to metal coatings based on acrylic and silicone coating technology. Brian Salazar, national business development manager at Euclid Canada, cites the Vandex line of crystalline products from the Euclid Chemical Company as a solution to many waterproofing requirements. "One product is a powdered admixture that forms crystals, which in turn plugs the pours of the concrete, while another can be applied topically for untreated concrete," he says. All of these products meet the NSF/ANSI/CAN Standard 61 for use with potable water. Specifically, Eucon Vandex AM-10 is an integral crystalline admixture specifically formulated to interact with concrete capillary pore structures for waterproofing that is a permanent part of the concrete matrix. It can be used in above- and below-grade applications. Similarly, Vandex Super and Vandex Super White are waterproof treatments that become an integral part of concrete through a crystallization process. In addition to waterproofing, Vandex Super/ Super White protects concrete substrates against saltwater, wastewater, harsh ground water, and certain chemical solutions. Vandex BB 75 is an engineered surface waterproof coating with hydrophobic properties that also complies with NSF/ANSI Standard 61 for use with potable water. It can be brush or spray applied to the positive or negative side of a concrete or masonry substrate. Tested to over 230 feet of hydrostatic pressure, Vandex BB 75 is suitable for horizontal and vertical/overhead uses, and although it is resistant to water and moisture it allows the structure to breathe by allowing the passage of vapour. Meanwhile, Denis Gingras, national director of sales, Canada, for Hydrotech Membrane Corp., proudly notes that his company's key product, a premium monolithic membrane, has been manufactured in Quebec and used worldwide since 1963. Today, Hydrotech's flagship product remains the Monolithic Membrane 6125 – a hot fluid applied, rubberized asphalt for waterproofing and roofing applications. It is thick, seamless, and easy to detail, and it facilitates the creation of blue and green roofs with zero slope decks due to its ability to be submerged for very long periods of time. Hydrotech is also the source for the Ultimate Assembly for plazas and roof terraces. This consists of everything from the structural deck up: MM6125 mem- brane, Hydroflex protection sheet, Hydrodrain drainage composite, extruded polystyrene insulation, architectural paver, and supports. Hundreds of Ultimate Assembly projects have been successfully installed to date. A Trowel application of Vandex Super waterproof treatment.
