"The stair is the main organizing element in the lobby space linking the pool, gym, and landscape beyond and becomes the passageway from one entrance to the other. The design allows the visi- tor to slowly meander up the stair and uncover different views as you enter and enjoy the various spaces and lev- els within the facility," says Raj Sheth, director, Facilities and Property Management, City of Mississauga. When it comes to the systems and finishes within the building all are, as Robert Aquino explains, state-of-the-art: "Everything has been so carefully thought-out, well designed and well engineered." Aquino adds that even the out- door spaces are exemplary, from the playground, the hillside slide, and climbing gym to the skate park and basketball court: "Honestly, if someone wants to construct a pool, a community centre, I would sug- gest they visit this project – every little detail has been done correctly." The passion of the team and their pride in this project is undeni- able, and for good reason. "Churchill Meadows Community Centre and Sports Park is proof that good design, quality workmanship, and team- work can deliver exceptional results. We are extremely proud when we see the project making a difference in the community and to the people it serves. The project delivered on its man- date of a modern yet timeless design that the public will enjoy for years to come," says Sheth.
