Take those working with wood walls, for example. The timeless look of wood continues to be a strong choice for both commercial and residential projects. "Wood, in a basic form, is never going to go out of favour because it has that warm, comfortable feeling when it's finished well," says Lyle Fuller, general manager, Wallworks Acoustic Architectural Products. "If you can leverage that look and make it into an acoustic absorber of some quality, it will always have a reason and a purpose in everything from boardrooms to council chambers." Fuller adds that wood panels were popular 40 or 50 years ago, but as things have evolved with the new ability of equipment, perforated acoustic wood panels in various sizes, configurations, and types of wood have become much more common, even though they're normally a bit more expensive than an average fabric finished panel. Wallworks is the distributor for a number of acoustic wall panel manufactur- ers including Tavapan, Sound Seal, Rulon International, Bruag, and Richter Akustik and Architecture Design. "The Linear line from Rulon uses a cliprail system that does away with heavy metal framing and support wood that is normally needed to hold nailed-in-place boards," says Fuller. "It comes in both open style or closed shiplap. For a different industry base, the Rulon Endure and Endure woodgrain products for ceilings are able to handle harsh or chemical environments such as a pool and exterior canopies." With the use of various domestic and exotic wood veneers, the Rulon products can be designed in both flat or curved panels and finished with either clear or custom stains. "The Deweton line from Swiss-made Tavapan features a keyhole channel detail that provides the aesthetic finesse of solid wood, excellent acoustic absorption, and outstanding value overall," he explains. WoodTrends wood wall and ceiling panels by Sound Seal offer perforated rigid materials with absorptive backings and are available in six different systems. The Sound Seal products are available in a variety of popular as well as exotic wood veneer species. LIVING WALLS Nedlaw Living Walls, a division of Nedlaw Group, has announced the installa- tion of a fully integrated and automated U V-C Biofiltered HVAC System, along with state-of-the-art rainwater harvesting.
