35 WANT TO SEE WHAT VANCOUVER BLOGGERS HAVE TO SAY? insidevancouver.ca ➔ Yaletown O n the south side of the downtown peninsula, Yaletown offers a glamorous urban vibe with numerous sidewalk cafes, trendy restaurants, designer boutiques and a thriving nightlife scene. Originally a warehouse district at the end of the cross-Canada railway line, the old redbrick buildings are now home to chic boutiques where carefully curated collections of designer fashions, accessories, homewares and artwork will appeal to savvy shoppers. Right at the water's edge, Yaletown boasts a number of the city's best seafood restaurants, and luckily for us, those wide loading docks, once used for stacking train-bound freight, now make fantastic restaurant patios. And the night doesn't have to end with dessert – Yaletown is the place to grab a designer cocktail and paint the town a fashionable shade of crimson. EAT Minami Aburi sushi is the star of this rustic restaurant's exotic menu. Blue Water Café A testament to the city's passion for seafood, Blue Water sources wild, sustainable ingredients to craft flavourful dishes infused with West Coast flair. Cioppino's Mediterranean Grill Cucina naturale aptly describes the clean, fresh style of cooking at Cioppino's, which boasts one of the largest wine cellars in the city. DO Shopping Galleries and boutiques line Yaletown's decidedly urbane streets, beckoning shoppers with specialty stores ranging from Taylorwood Wines to Coastal Peoples Fine Arts Gallery. Steam Train The Engine 374 Pavilion at the Yaletown Roundhouse Community Centre is one of the last remaining relics of the Canadian Pacific Railway's self-designed locomotives. Farmer's Market Every week in spring and summer, local growers and artisans offer in-season and one-of-a-kind fare ranging from luscious herbs to beer-infused sausages. DRINK The Distillery Bar Cheekily opened on Repeal Day – the anniversary of the end of Prohibition – the Yaletown Distilling Company's tasting bar serves and sells premium handcrafted spirits. New Oxford Reminiscent of a sporty British pub, this atmospheric restaurant is outfitted with original-print books, vintage sporting gear and – most importantly – a cantilevered bar serving cocktails, craft beer and organic fare. West Oak Take a seat at this ambient restaurant's sun-drenched patio and unwind with a frosty cocktail or a glass of vino from the comprehensive wine list.
