getaways Dino bones, wagon rides and a designer yurt. Could a kid ask for more? by Christalee Froese Saskatchewan's wonders If you've ever tried to plan a short break with the kids in tow, you'll know what a challenge it can be to keep everyone happy. How do you decide on a destination that appeals equally to tots, teenagers and adults? Thankfully, Saskatchewan is the perfect place to hunt for resorts and attractions that offer the magic of family fun. You thought the Seven Wonders were mostly in Greece and Egypt? Well, now the truth can be told. The circular wood-framed dwelling, typically the abode of nomadic herdsmen in central Asia, was our home for a short stay at Flora Bora Forest Lodging near Emma Lake (about 75 kilometres southeast of Prince Albert National Park). The idea of staying in a canvas tent in October was a little scary, but it turned out we didn't have to worry. Walking through the door, I was amazed by the size of the place – 56 square metres or about the size of a one-bedroom apartment. Our "tent" came with a fully equipped modern kitchen and a full bathroom. Show-home sophistication, including Ikea furnishings and colourful throw pillows, was set off by a beautiful cork floor. This was better than any hotel room – and here we were with our own little corner of the boreal forest. After a homemade breakfast and a cup of fresh-ground coffee, we discovered a winding path to the lake.
