World-renowned for designing sky scrapers, prestigious communities and private residences, this Toronto-based architectural firm uses innovative design to maximize all aspects of a project's potential. At the core of its architectural practice lies a corporate philosophy dedicated to viewing each and every project on its own merits, no matter what size the project. The passion for design cascades from the three founding partners, Berardo E. Graziani, Enzo M. Corazza and Domenic Biase. "Since the very beginning Graziani + Corazza has always been, and continues to be a team focussed company that is dedi- cated to achieving an architectural vision which is tailor-made to create singular and iconic visions," says Corazza. "Whether it's a residential, commercial, mixed-use community, institutional icon or neighbourhood infill, our dedication to achieving a fresh architectural response to our client's brief informs our reputation." The success of the company stems from a combination of Graziani's meticulous attention to detail and co-ordination skills, Corazza's understanding of specialty buildings including multi-level commercial and residential buildings and Biase's strong leadership skills. But for Graziani + Corazza it isn't about one person or a singular set of skills. After 18 years in business the team has grown, with each staff member bringing a unique set of skills including creative urban design, innovative ideas and outstanding leadership. Walk into the offices in Mississauga's business district and the buzz is undeni- able. Staff sit facing one another to encourage open communication, allowing ideas to flow freely. "Our office is surrounded by modern architecture that provides stim- ulation to the senses. Natural sunlight beams through our sleek and stylish win- dows and our espresso machine makes for great conversation," laughs Graziani. It's here that the magic happens; and the results of which can be seen all across Canada. Just take Waterscapes in Etobicoke, Ontario. This 30-storey residential/ commercial building is an inspirational work of art that features a soaring ellipti- cal tower and captures the magnificence of Lake Ontario with spectacular views from sunrise to sunset. "This architecture moves away from the codes that gener- ally define the image held by high-rise buildings and particular care is taken in the addition of details through the cast of shadow and light," explains John Chimienti, associate at Graziani + Corazza who worked on the project. In contrast, the sharp angles at Lago in Etobicoke – a slender 49-storey tower – complement the tower that rises without any steps or breaks.
