28 Extreme Adventure ROCK CLIMBING The Stawamus Chief near Squamish is a granite monolith offering rock climbers the ultimate vertical fix. Challenging climbs are also found on Vancouver's North Shore, in the deep gorge of Capilano Canyon, at Lighthouse Park and on the bluffs in Deep Cove overlooking Indian Arm. RIVER RAFTING Clients of all fitness and adventure levels will enjoy the thrill of whitewater rafting. Adventure abounds on a guided tour of any of the Chilliwack, Elaho-Squamish, Green, Thompson and Nahatlatch rivers with Chilliwack River Raft Adventures, Hyak River Rafting or Canadian Outback Adventures. SCUBA DIVING Most people think of the tropics when scuba diving comes to mind, but Vancouver has some of the best scuba diving in the world. Your clients can plunge into the nutrient- rich waters between Vancouver Island and the mainland to view spectacular marine species like the wolf eel and octopuses, as well as a brilliant red coral found in few other places around the world. Other popular diving sites close to Vancouver include Porteau Cove near Squamish and Whytecliff Park near Horseshoe Bay. Or head straight to the favourite playgrounds of local sealife on a dive or snorkelling trip with Sea Dragon Dive Charters. SKYDIVING For those clients looking for an experience to get their heart racing, Skydive Vancouver offers tandem skydiving out in the Fraser Valley, about an hour east of the city. After a 40- to 60-second freefall, an instructor pulls the chute and adventurers enjoy five or six unforgettable minutes of floating down under the canopy. ZIP LINING For a unique and thrilling airborne adventure at any time of year, send your clients on Grouse Mountain's Air Grouse zip lining experience. They'll zoom at top speeds of 80 km/h (50 mph) across the peaks of Grouse Mountain and Dam Mountain, traversing the canyon below. The experience combines heart- pounding thrills with an exploration of B.C.'s breathtaking old-growth forests, and your clients will learn about indigenous flora and fauna and its significance to First Nations people along the way. PARAGLIDING There's no better way to get an unparalleled view of Vancouver's surrounding mountains, harbour and downtown skyline than by strapping into a harness and soaring above the treetops. Grouse Mountain offers tandem paragliding from the mountain's peak down over 1,000 metres (3,300 feet) before landing in Cleveland Park. BUNGEE JUMPING Adrenalin junkies can head to Whistler Bungee at the Bungy Zone – less than two hours from Vancouver – to hurl themselves off a bridge 50 metres (160 feet) above a glacial-fed river in a spectacular mountain setting. Insider's tip: Periodically, Whistler Bungee offers nighttime jumping under the moonlight.
