These Boots Are Made for Walking Volksmarch club eVents take place throughout the province, with regular walks in Regina Beach, Weyburn, Regina, Saskatoon, Moose Jaw and North Battle- ford. Laurie Ross, vice-president of the Regina-based walking club the Wascana Wan- derers, says that Volksmarch events are held under the umbrella of the International Volkssport Federation, with clubs all over Canada. Adds Ross: "Volkssport was started in Germany in the 1960s and means 'people's sport.' A volksmarch simply means a 'people's walk' and is usually 10 km, although five km walks are organized as well." Planned trail walks cover sidewalks, gravel paths, gravel roads or grassy hills and hol- lows. Be sure to wear a comfortable pair of hiking boots or sneakers – and don't forget to bring a water bottle – to enjoy your "people's walk" in picturesque Saskatchewan. walks.ca/Home.html 8 w e s t w o r l d | F A l l 2 0 1 4 (top) courtesy laurie ross, gilbertson guest house Saskatchewan's top 10 b&bs M any travellers rely on bed and breakfasts as a comfortable and unique way to enjoy the sights while experiencing a region's local cuisine and hospitality.
