To the Stars – Fuelled by Legacy T his year, 2014, marks the 90th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) in Canada. Since 1924, the RCAF has taken a leading role on the world stage supporting humanitarian missions, working with interna- tional governments and flying in dangerous missions around the globe. Here in Saskatchewan, 15 Wing Moose Jaw is home to the NATO Flying Training in Canada program, the 2 Canadian Forces Flying Training School (also called e Big 2) and the world-famous Canadian Forces Snowbirds military air demon- stration team. e Snowbirds have incorporated the 2014 RCAF theme "To the Stars – Fuelled by Legacy" for this year's flying season with scheduled performances in Canada and the United States. Since 1978, the Snowbirds Squadron 431 has per- formed at festivals and air shows in Canada and the U.S., becoming one of the premier military aerobatics display teams in the world. Regina-based photographer Cal Fehr has been capturing amazing pictures of the Snowbirds for the past 21 years. He says it has been a thrill to be associated with the Snowbirds team, whether it's in the hangar, in the studio or in the air. Some of his most memorable moments are flying (and tak- ing photos) upside down, plummeting to the earth in a loop manoeuvre, seeing the wing tips almost touching or flying in the centre of a nine- plane formation. ese are coordinated feats of extraordinary skill. www.rcaf-arc.forces.gc.ca/en/snowbirds/index.page W ALL IN GOOD TIME December 13, 2014, when written as 12/13/14, is the last sequential calendar date in this century. December 13 also falls on a Saturday, which makes it a perfect day for that perfect wedding. To make it even more unique, couples can consider exchanging wedding vows at precisely 12:13 and 14 seconds. Most hotels and tourist destinations, including Las Vegas and the Florida Keys, are offering "timely" wedding packages.
