50 real weddings SPRing / SUMMER 2014 to the city so he could officiate the couple's ceremony in the same church where they had been married 28 years earlier. Cristina and Curtis exchanged their vows surrounded by 200 family and friends, many of whom had travelled across the globe to join them. e ceremony was followed by a reception at Club Los Lagartos, a posh golf and country club in Bogota. Cristina had designed and planned the reception herself, fusing elements of Colombian tradition and culture with her own ideas and vision. "Working in the industry I had definitely thought a lot about what I wanted," says Cristina. "I wanted something traditional and also timeless, while using new ideas that hadn't been seen before in Colombia." With so much family in Bogota, the bride had no shortage of advice and support when it came to sourcing wedding vendors. In the end, the vast distance between B.C. and South America proved no hindrance to planning their dream day. "I thought it was perfect, which was the greatest gift," says Curtis. "I would not have changed a thing." rw For the traditional ceremony, which took place in the same church where the bride's parents had married 28 years earlier, Cristina had a lace top custom made to cover her strapless gown; the bride's sisters and best friend formed her blue-themed bridal party; the couple held their elegant reception at a golf and country club in Bogota. p46-51_Cristina+Curtis.indd 50 14-04-17 12:45 PM
