In November 1988, our Foundation incorporated, taking over the philanthropic work previously done by the Peace Arch Hospital Board. Since that time, more than $90 million has been raised and reinvested into our community. We are proud of our track record, but we could not have accomplished what we have without the vision of the people in our community who made early investments in health care; • e vision of Robert Hassell, who shelled-in extra floors when the new acute tower Th was built in 1968, together with his vision in 2007 to use philanthropy to finish what he started. The Foundation and Fraser Health worked together to complete those two shelled-in floors to provide 56 new beds for health care in our community. • e vision of the Hospital Board, which had the foresight to purchase the vacant lands Th adjacent to the Peace Arch Hospital campus. These lands are today the cornerstone of plans the Foundation is developing with Fraser Health to build capacity on the Peace Arch Hospital Campus. • e vision of the wide variety of stakeholders – hospital staff, volunteers, community Th members and physicians – who are shaping what our hospital will look like in the next 25 years through the Master Concept Plan process and other projects at our hospital. We are looking forward to what the next 25 years will bring. In this issue, you'll read about plans for building capacity at Peace Arch Hospital to alleviate congestion and to meet the future health-care demands of our growing population.
