YVR TO PSF
Millions of salmon pass by YVR airport on their
journey through the Fraser Estuary. That's why YVR
partnered with the Pacific Salmon Foundation to
support research programs through the Salish Sea
Marine Survival Project with a $55,000 donation.
The funds are helping everyday citizens continue
to collect key data on the Strait of Georgia
through the Citizen Science Program. YVR is
also helping PSF connect with anglers travelling
through the South Terminal by providing in-kind
ad space and an area to distribute PSF's Salmon
Steward magazine. What's more, YVR was along
for the journey as a sponsor of PSF's inaugural
#SalmonRoadTrip! (p.3)
SALMON CHAMPIONS
WATCHING WHALES, SAVING SALMON
About five years ago several whale watching and
eco-tourism companies began charging a small
conservation fee (about $1-2 per customer). To date,
the program has raised more than $200,000 for wild
salmon restoration and research. PSF is pleased to
welcome Ocean Outfitters on board! Contact Cory
Matheson at cmatheson@psf.ca to get involved.
THE SUMMER OF SALMON
PSF donors raised over $13,000
for community salmon projects
through our summer appeal!
That's actually about a $90,000
investment in wild salmon, because
PSF grants generate another $7 for
every $1 granted at the community
level. Congrats to Joachim
Neumann (middle), winner of our
special donor draw. Joachim will be
starting the next fishing season with
a brand spankin' new TR3 reel &
rod donated by Islander Reels.
