44 | OCTOBER 2017 Tiles the mixtures were balanced to ensure that extended dry times are not required," he explains. "This performance has been validated through both laboratory and practi- cal testing. Now, the installer can select from either Schluter-Systems' unmodified or modified thin-set mortar to install tiles over Schluter products according to his or her preference." Bostik's newest product, Bosti-Set, is a premium adhesive and sound reduction membrane created specifically for gauged thin porcelain tile panel installations. "Today, gauged thin porcelain tile panels have become extremely popular for numer- ous reasons," says Scott Banda, director of marketing and business development. Projects today are calling for gauged thin porcelain tile panels that can be installed in roughly half the time with a smaller crew. "A single layer of adhe- sive is troweled only onto the back of the panel, cutting the square footage neces- sary to trowel in half," explains Chad Bulen, Bostik's technical services manager. "Additionally, crew members dedicated to basics such as mixing, running mortar back-and-forth and similar functions, can be re-directed to work on more skilled installation procedures." Bosti-Set is lighter in weight with much greater coverage than typical mortars. It contains zero VOC's as well as two percent recycled material. Bostik's patent- pending Thickness-Control Spacer Technology built into Bosti-Set ensures proper membrane thickness, is maintained between tile panels and the substrate. Recycled rubber crumb particles mixed into the adhesive create optimal membrane sound reduction performance. U N D E R C O N T R O L Maxxon Corporation is constantly striving to meet the evolving floor challenges fac- ing the construction industry and is continuing this pursuit with the launch of three innovative new sound control mats ideal for hard surface areas such as tile floors. "Maxxon is excited to introduce the Acousti-Mat HP Series of high performance sound control mats," says Tara Crooker, marketing services specialist. "Acousti-Mat II HP, Enkasonic HP and Acousti-Mat 3 HP provide upgraded sound control through the addition of a high-performance acoustical fabric that is laminated to the bottom of the mat's entangled mesh core." Topped with a high-strength Maxxon underlayment, Acousti-Mat II HP increases the acoustical performance of a wood floor/ceiling assembly by up to 16 IIC points and up to 20 points over concrete construction. "Because it only requires a one-inch topping, Acousti-Mat II HP adds sound control without adding to the overall floor height," says Crooker. The Enkasonic HP increases the IIC levels of the floor/ceiling assembly by up to 18 points over wood frame construction and up to 25 points over concrete con- struction. At a height of three-quarter inch and requiring only a one-and-a-half inch reinforced topping, Acousti-Mat 3 HP provides ultimate sound control without sig- nificantly increasing the overall floor height.
