We owe both Casey and Xeva a tremendous amount of gratitude for their support of these worthy causes. Community Service Award e Community Service Award is handed out to a member or members of the CMBA- BC who have shown outstanding service to the community, charities or philanthropic organizations that support and improve the communities we live in. e 2016 Community Service Award goes to: Sharon Chan Davis e nomination for Sharon is a record four-page description of her contributions to charities and the community at large, which explains that she is "one of those individuals who gives back to her community on a constant basis. Sharon is involved in so many fundraising initiatives and I believe she gives of herself for the joy of others." Her many fundraising activities include organizing, sorting and delivering clothing and household items throughout the year for a transition house; acting as a drop-off depot for Ruben's Shoes, which sends gently used footwear to third world countries; and collecting warm clothing and footware and preparing lunches for people in need. Outstanding Contribution Award e Outstanding Contribution Award is given to a member of the CMBA-BC who has shown outstanding dedication and enthusiasm to the CMBA-BC and the mortgage broker industry, in the year awarded. e 2016 Outstanding Contribution Award goes to: Ajay Soni Ajay completed his last term as CMBA-BC president in 2016 on a high note – he led the association to new heights, launching marketing initiatives that have raised the organization's profile. He designed the new MB logo, which is a mark of membership; created bold new advertisements, which quantify for the public how much business brokers do; and launched a TV campaign educating the public on the value of brokers. For his service as CMBA-BC president, Ajay also took home the Past President Award. Pioneer Award e Pioneer Award is for lifetime achievement, awarded to individuals who have demonstrated leadership as a member of the CMBA-BC and also promote the mortgage brokerage industry throughout British Columbia. is includes ongoing interaction with our members, our regulators, our lending community and the public. e 2016 Pioneer Award goes to: Joanne Vickery Joanne is truly an industry veteran, having been in the mortgage and finance industry for well over 40 years (and still counting)! She spent 23 years as a branch manager and mortgage development manager for a bank. More recently, she has been an independent broker and ran a successful mortgage brokerage company, before serving a stint at Mortgage Architects, where she focused on delivering broker education. In 2000, she became a director of MBABC, and has been actively involved with the association up until 2016 – becoming President in 2010, serving on the association's Education committee, teaching the AIC Course and sitting as a director of the Mortgage Brokers Institute.
