If minimalism is more your style, Drift (driftsanjose.com) is the accommodation you seek. A cross between a boutique hotel and a youth hostel, this pared-down yet über-stylish option doesn't offer poolside lounging, but makes up for it with opportunities to mingle with locals and a prime San José location.
