City, sea and space Home to three popular museums, Vanier Park is a centre of learning. The Vancouver Maritime Museum is an all-access pass to British Columbia's diverse sea life, and includes hands-on activities for kids in the Children's Maritime Discovery Centre. The H.R. MacMillan Space Centre turns its gaze to the stars, with astronomy shows in the planetarium plus live demonstrations on how astronauts live and work in space. And at the Museum of Vancouver, the city is the star of the show – unique exhibits showcase the most colourful parts of Vancouver's history, including a collection of vintage neon signs! CHRISTMAS CHEER Vancouver is truly a special place during the winter holidays. Immerse yourself in the winter magic with The Peak of Christmas at Grouse Mountain, where the mountaintop is abuzz with sleigh rides, Santa's workshop, live reindeer, ice skating and more. Don't miss the city's sparkling mosaic of colourful light displays during the Festival of Lights at VanDusen Botanical Garden (December to January), Bright Nights in Stanley Park (December to January), and Canyon Lights at the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park (December to January). Christmas tree and gingerbread house displays are the highlights at Canada Place, Sutton Place Hotel and the Hyatt Regency Vancouver. Then sing your heart out in the Christmas Carol Ships Parade of Lights in English Bay on a festive dinner cruise or in the Karaoke Christmas Lights Tour with The Vancouver Trolley Company. And be sure to pick up handmade treats and gifts at the Vancouver Christmas Market at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre (November to December).
