24 2015 psf.ca Special projectS Sometimes the Pacific Salmon Foundation partners on special projects that spread support for Pacific salmon by engaging the broader public. Last year rocky Mountaineer helped fund a new viewing platform for the 2014 Adams River Salute to the Sockeye Festival. The platform enabled the hundreds of thousands of tourists who flood Roderick Haig-Brown Park to see the Sockeye close-up without trampling vital habitats. We are also proud to support UNINTERRUPTED, which will bring the Adams River Sockeye run to the heart of downtown Vancouver in 2017. This art installation will project images of the Adams River migration onto Cambie Street Bridge using digital mapping. It will no doubt prove a sight to behold, and we hope you'll stop by and join us for this unique salmon celebration. • 2 Reel Fishing Adventures • Avid Sportfishing • Bon Chovy Fishing Charters • Chromer Sportfishing • Duncanby Lodge • Eagle Eye Outfitters • Eagle Pointe Lodge • Eagle Wing Tours • Haggard Cove • Hakai Land and Sea Society • Lodge at Gold River • Marina West Motel • Naden Lodge • Nicholas Dean Outdoors • Ole's Hakai Pass Fishing Lodge • Qualicum Rivers Winter Harbour Fishing Lodge and Resort • Reel Obsession Sport Fishing • Shearwater Resort and Marina • Westcoast Resorts • West Sportfishing Thank you to our partners who are participating in the conservation contribution program: preServing the Skeena The Skeena River Watershed is located in northern British Columbia and is home to all five species of wild Pacific salmon and Steelhead. The Skeena watershed supports Canada's second-largest wild salmon population, next to that of the Fraser, as well as an internationally renowned sport angling industry and traditional food, cultural and ceremonial fisheries for First Nations. The Pacific Salmon Foundation's Skeena Salmon Program focuses on advancing the implementation of Fisheries and Oceans Canada's Wild Salmon Policy in the Skeena Watershed by assessing the status of Pacific salmon populations and their habitat. In addition, the Skeena Salmon Program is working to provide open access to data and develop decision-making support tools that make the information about the status of salmon and their habitats accessible to First Nations, community members, policy makers and others. Since 2008, the gordon and Betty Moore Foundation has been a major supporter of the Skeena Salmon Program. This year, transcanada corporation, environment canada, Fisheries and oceans canada and parks canada agency all provided new support to the program. The program encourages lodges and sportfishing operators to allow patrons to pay an optional conservation contribution fee on their invoices. Last year, this initiative saw some creative outgrowth as whale-watching company eagle Wing tours got in on the action; it's a natural evolution of the program, as Chinook comprise about 90 per cent of the southern resident orca diet, and the Foundation is thrilled to welcome these new partners to the fold. Not to be outdone, peetz Manufacturing announced its new "Reel Change" program to donate $10 for every reel sold and challenge suppliers to make a similar commitment. Peetz Manufacturing is stepping up its commitment to the Pacific Salmon Foundation through new owner Art Aylesworth (second from right).
