Belfor ended up sponsoring Hadwin, paying the golfer to have the company's logo at first on his golf bag and later on his shirt. It turned out to be a savvy investment; within a year Hadwin would be low Canadian at the internationally televised RBC Canadian Open, an event he nearly won in 2011. And as Hadwin's status in golf rose—he's now a regular on the PGA Tour after leading the Web.com Tour in 2014—Belfor's connection remained. "They are friends of mine," says Hadwin, 27, from Abbotsford, B.C. "There's a real sense of family with them and certainly from a business standpoint I think it has helped them."
