"Plus, MAPEI Flexcolor CQ's ability to rebond over an existing installation ensures flush joints and easy touch-up of any damaged joints or tile replacement in the future." Schluter Systems Canada has introduced the Schluter Schiene-Step-EB, a brushed stainless steel profile for use in a variety of applications. "The number one use would be on countertops," says Dale Kempster, technical director, Canada. "It's like a T configuration and comes in different dimensions to accommodate the thickness of the tile and the overlap goes down onto the adjacent surface. It allows the outer edge to be finished off and protects it from mechanical impacts such as pots and pans or carts in a commercial kitchen. It is also able to protect the tile or stone from chip- ping and cracking. The Schluter Schiene-Step-EB could also be used on fireplaces where there may be a non-combustible material like concrete board for fire code." Another use for the Schluter Schiene–Step-EB is when applying tile over tile. "For example, if someone was going to be doing a renovation in a shower and they wanted to install over existing tile, this product will be perfect to finish off the combined thickness. The last way this product can be used is for stairs, where people are try- ing to cover up the riser while at the same time protecting the tile." Also new for Schluter is the three-and-a-half-inch touchscreen Thermostat for the Ditra-Heat system. "This advanced screen makes it a lot more modern and styl- ish than the products we had in the past, and allows users to incorporate whatever system is existing, even a competitor's floor heating product," says Kempster. Marr Industrial Coatings Inc. opened its doors in 1993, quickly establishing a name for providing environmentally-friendly, innovative floor coatings. Today that reputation continues as industries from pharmaceutical production and aerospace facilities to breweries take advantage of the company's expertise in developing quality, innovative concrete finishes. "Our products are not only suited to indus- trial settings, we also have decorative options with custom colours to enhance any type of business," says Frank Marr, president. "Our 101 Urethane provides durable protection and is safe to use with OVOC's. It also has built-in UV protection and its high gloss will improve the image of any setting." With a degree in chemistry and experience working as a research and develop- ment chemist specializing in floor coatings, Marr works closely with manufacturers to ensure quality coatings for his customers. "We are sensitive to our customers' budgets and flooring requirements. Our knowledge of manufacturing, product application and customer service has created outstanding value to our customers," he says. Marr Industrial products are dust free, resistant to abrasions and impacts, and provide significantly reduced maintenance costs. Flexcolor CQ ready-to-use grout from MAPEI.
