While Maia's brides sported pretty Kate Spade jewellery, Maia wore elegant Elsa Corsi earrings, two Swarovski bracelets gifted by both sets of parents, and her diamond engagement ring custom designed by Andrew. e church service was followed by a Chinese tea ceremony, where Maia changed into the wedding gown Andrew's own mother had worn many years before. "It meant a lot to me that she gave it to me," says Maia. "And my wearing it was a way of honouring his family, too." Arriving at the Vancouver Club for the reception, Maia recalls being blown away by the romantic décor, mixed with a touch of Gatsby glamour. "When I walked into the ballroom for the rst time, it was just a breath of fresh air. e daylight coming through the windows, with their light curtains gently billowing in the breeze, and the freshness added by the acrylic chairs, plexiglass boxes and pillars, and orals was breathtaking." Dance Trax Entertainment kept the music pumping in the breaks between a sumptuous meal of Dungeness crab cakes, bison short rib, asparagus risotto and Qualicum diver scallops. Signature drinks were named RN and MD, after the couple's respective careers, and dessert was an unforgettable four-tiered mango-mousse cheesecake confection. A day later Andrew and Maia boarded a plane for Paris, Monaco and Nice, the newlyweds' rst- ever trip together. "I'll never forget the feeling of opening the church doors and seeing my best friend waiting there for me," Maia says with dreamy eyes. Andrew agrees: "I felt so much love from our family and friends that day," he says quietly. "It was special knowing that they were there to support us." rw
