realweddings.ca 53 T "ree, two, one . . . Happy New Year!" As 130 guests ushered 2014 in with party hats, noisemakers and bubbly, Allison Godey and Tony Anderson celebrated their first moments together as husband and wife. e two had met several years earlier, as law students at the University of Victoria. It had been — for Tony, at least — love at first sight. "He told me he was going to marry me right off the bat," Allison says with a smile. "at's pretty heavy, and I definitely made him work for it." Two years later, Tony was ready to make good on his promise. On Christmas Eve 2011, he whisked Allison away from a family dinner for a private moment at the Teahouse restaurant in Stanley Park. Pulling a princess-cut diamond solitaire (a ring Tony calls "classy, just like Allison") from his pocket, he proposed. "ere had been hints he was getting ready to pop the question, but I didn't know when or how," Allison recalls. "I was on high alert but, in the end, it was a total surprise. I couldn't help thinking that he'd been right all along."
