And he knew it was meant to be when the opportunity arose for him to take girlfriend Carly Walton on an impromptu trip to New York City with friends in February 2013. "I'd dreamt it . . . but I never dreamed it would actually happen," Eric says of the surreal moment. "I had a number of other contingency plans in case the Empire StateBuildingdidn'twork out, but thankfully I didn't need them." His grand romantic gesture atop the city's iconic building took his bride- to-be by complete surprise. "I didn't suspect a thing," says Carly. e couple rst met in 2007 at the nancial rm where Eric worked. e company was looking for an intern when Carly walked into the boardroom one day, Eric recalls. A secret o ce romance developed into a relationship that led the couple to say "I do" six years later at an intimate celebration at Carly's parents' oceanview home in West Vancouver. weet
