THE PLEDGE for a sustainable community ACCESS student career development student career development ENERGY TRAVEL WASTE WATER PURCHASING The Pledge Program is the banner under which the Burnaby Board of Trade operates its various sustainability-related initiatives, from its Green Talks! event and the Green Street section at the Burnaby Business Day Showcase & Expo, to our funding opportunities for Climate Smart Certification and the BBOT's own Climate Smart journey. Our signature program, the Pledge for a Sustainable Community at bbotpledge.ca, is a comprehensive online resource with the goal of helping businesses large and small reduce their environmental footprint while at the same time promoting their company and even saving money. Program participants have access to lots of valuable resources, tips and case studies to help them create a more sustainable workplace. They have the opportunity to share their successes, serve as role models and pledge to take on new challenges. Once registered as a Pledge member, among other incentives businesses are featured and recognized on BBOT channels, at events and in the membership directory. The Pledge is a significant part of the BBOT brand and an important tool for the local business community. Entering its third year, the Burnaby Board of Trade's Access Student Career Development Program (Access) provides senior post-secondary students with the connections and tools they need to compete in the job market, while providing local businesses with access to top young talent. It is an eight-month dynamic program that is flexible to meet the demands of a busy student schedule. Access consists of workshops, events and connections – a truly unique component of the program combining mentoring and networking. It offers a personalized and invaluable opportunity for students to make an impression with leading businesses and organizations in our community.
