The near impossibility of compre-

due to nuances of industry lingo.
Take for example colour: search
for a burgundy sweater, and
you might get 500,000 hits, but
miss out on 300,000 products in
"oxblood."
SOLUTION
Molnar and his colleagues built a
fashion search engine that draws
on more than 100 million "social
signals" from across the web to
simplify the many nuances of the
fashion industry. Wantering lists
more than 1.1 million products
catering to a community of
