PRETEND PROVENCE Thanks to its pretty orchards and vineyards, the sunny Okanagan makes an ideal nearby alternative to the South of France. For a truly rustic ambience, head to the Okanagan Lavender & Herb Farm in Kelowna (okanaganlavender.com or 250-764-7795). FARM PHOTO COURTESY OF OKANAGAN LAVENDER & HERB FARM Sarah: One of my favourite things is the bridal cottage at the farm. What a lovely space to prepare and relax moments before you say oui. Sarah: Of course, you can't evoke France and not think of food. Serve macarons and delectable strawberrytopped Camembert with champagne. Finger foods allow for your guests to meander through the lavender and truly enjoy the gorgeous outdoor space this farm has to offer. Sarah: I love my ballet-inspired dress for pirouetting with these sweet flower girls who have stolen my heart. Tutus make everything better. Aubrey: Everything French is both beautiful and romantic. Stumbling through the French language is one of my favourite pastimes, and the décor and food in this Provençal theme is sure to have all your guests conversing en français in no time. I chose a bright fuchsia dress that really pops against the soft colours in the décor. It's a great idea to use your bridesmaid dresses as accents of colour at the wedding. 88 R E A L WEDDINGS p86-93_Home and Away.indd 88 4/24/12 3:39:53 PM
