As Vic says: "Kim hates being the centre of attention, despite the fact she's so gracious and beautiful. So I thought it'd be easier on her if we did the proposal and engagement party all on the same day." After pulling out all the proverbial stops to pop the question, Vic wanted to ensure that the wedding was equally wow-worthy. One way to do that? By hosting two weddings. As Kim explains, "Vic's a Singaporean Hindu, so the first wedding was to acknowledge his culture. It was a small ceremony at a Richmond temple on September 11, 2011, that was mainly for his family. The second wedding, the Western wedding, was the big one." On September 24, the couple swapped a second set of "I do's" at Vernon's Sparkling Hill Resort, an elegant European-style oasis infused with 3.5 million Swarovski crystals. What sold them on Sparkling Hill? "We wanted a destination wedding that we could return to on our anniversaries," says Vic. "Plus, we're both really big on Okanagan wine country, and it was a beautiful spot, so we thought, 'Why not?' " Suffice it to say, the couple was not disappointed with their choice of venue. "It was a great wedding," Kim declares. "Everyone had a great time. It turned into a bit of a wild party!" The success of a wedding often hinges on the food, and the cuisine catered by Sparkling Hill — organic, locally sourced beef, salmon and salads — was raved about by the guests. It was almost as jaw-dropping as Kim's wedding dress. "It was just stunning," she says of the ivory satin Top: Kim and Vic selected strapless bubble-style gown. "It was a bold dress, that's Sparkling Hill Resort for their destination wedding for sure." so they can return for No wonder Vic says that, for him, the most memotheir anniversaries.
