Mark Gibbon is a Vancouver-
based photographer who shot
the portraits for the 2025 30
under 30 winners (p.26). "For a
shoot like this there are so many
moving pieces and people
and objects to try to fit in the
frame that it's always a bit of a
challenge to have things look
good and interesting without
competing with each other," he
says. "At the same time, it's all
part of the creative process of
photography, and I really enjoy
making it all come together
despite the challenges."
Dee Hon has been a contribu-
tor to BCBusiness since 2008.
When he pitched "Does That
Compute?" (p.49), Hon says it
was because he "was struck by
the dual effects of the sudden
AI boom: soaring valuations for
companies that could leverage
artificial intelligence, and layoffs
for workers including some
of my friends." And looking
toward an AI-enhanced future
meant asking how it can help
us streamline our own lives:
"How do B.C. educators prepare
future leaders and employees?"
