"Jenny and Byron Gayfer bring new energy and vision to Top 40, and their new efficiency initiatives are already having positive results. We are on track to hit our largest volume year to date in 2022, and with our new organization and systems we are seeing an increase in capacity that will also translate to more new automation equipment purchases in 2023 to support that." Top 40 has also successfully navigated the problems plaguing the industry in the wake of the pandemic lockdowns. "As far as shortages we purchased a lot ahead of the curve, and while we had some delays it really has not been that bad for us on the supply end," Glanzer says, "We have had to get creative a few times but I think we are the exception, not the rule. I know many other shops were impacted greatly." As for projects, Top 40 has continued to do diverse millwork for wineries, gro- cery stores, pharmacies, universities, dental and medical offices, law firms, and projects for BC Housing. Glanzer notes of the upcoming new year, "We already have almost half the year sold out even with increased capacity. The future looks bright, and even with the interest rates we are very optimistic." New fixture products that augment architectural woodwork projects are par- ticularly in abundance in 2022. George Pavlov, Ontario regional sales manager for Grass Canada Inc. says, "We have a host of new innovative products: very thin lifter systems from Germany and unique drawer box systems from Austria, and as always with Grass we are working on more new products for release in the new year." One of the slim drawer systems Pavlov is referring to is the Vionaro V8, whose design principle has been "reduce to the max" in order to achieve a clear, mono- lithic form intended to outlast time and trends. Vionaro V8 exudes a majestic calm, and its architectural clarity makes the eight-millimetre drawer sides look slimmer and even more elegant, emphasizing Grass's aim to create brand qual- ity with masterly perfection in the sense of Zen teachings. Another slim system is Kinvaro T-Slim, a wall cabinet flap system that redefines the principle of the classic wall cabinet with stable and reliable movement systems that are easy and silent in application, ergonomically well- designed, and comfortable to operate. Until recently it was unthinkable that a strong flap stay could be fully integrated into the side wall of a wall cabinet, but Grass engineers succeeded in reducing the size of the complex mechanics of the flap-up fitting to a compact 12-millimetre (mm). The fitting and front connection are milled in, the outcome of Grass's determination to create the thinnest lift-up flap fitting of all time and integrating it completely into the cabinet wall.
