SALMON CHAMPIONS AUCTIONS This spring, Mosaic Forest Management sponsored an online fundraising auction in lieu of community events typically hosted annually in South and Central Vancouver Island. Through the generosity of our donors and supporters, $40,000 was raised for stewards who are carrying on with the work of restoring salmon habitat, operating conservation hatcheries and enhancement programs, and delivering education programs. Mosaic is a longstanding supporter of PSF and has contributed more than $1 million towards salmon habitat and conservation projects on Vancouver Island. DERBIES The community of Port Alberni also tweaked their fundraising efforts for PSF. Organizers of the 2020 Port Alberni Ultimate Fishing Derby, held over the Labour Day weekend, modified their format to ensure COVID-19 protocols were followed. The event was a big success, resulting in a $20,000 donation for PSF community- driven salmon projects ! Other local stewardship groups such as the Alberni Valley Enhancement Society also benefited from event proceeds. Thank you to all participants and supporters, and a special thanks to tackle shop Gone Fishin' (right) and derby organizers.
