Nestled between the mountains and the ocean, with an active, outdoorsy population, Vancouver is full of activities for those who want to enjoy life to its fullest Whale Watching Interpretive Walk Skiing & Snowboarding Wildlife and whale watching Cycling and mountain biking Best visited between March and October, the waters off the coast of Vancouver and Vancouver Island offer some of the most thrilling whale watching anywhere. Vancouver's Orcas and grey whales provide exciting adventures for visitors of all ages. March through October, grey whales migrate through the Tofino/Ucluelet area of Vancouver Island; May to October, southern resident Orcas feed on passing salmon in the Strait of Georgia and the Gulf Islands; and from July to September northern resident Orcas feed in Johnstone Strait. Urban paths and forest trails have been drawing cycling enthusiasts to Vancouver for years. Options include pedalling leisurely through Stanley Park and the University of British Columbia campus or navigating rugged trails on the North Shore.
