The great
outdoors
Looking for a little adventure to spice up your days
of sightseeing? Nestled between the mountains and
the ocean, with an active, outdoorsy population,
Vancouver is full of activities for those who want to
enjoy life to its fullest
Whale Watching
Interpretive Walk
Skiing & Snowboarding
Wildlife and whale watching
Cycling and mountain biking
Best visited between March and October,
the waters off the coast of Vancouver
and Vancouver Island offer some of the
most thrilling whale watching anywhere.
Vancouver's Orcas and grey whales provide
exciting adventures for visitors of all ages.
March through October, grey whales
migrate through the Tofino/Ucluelet area of
Vancouver Island; May to October, southern
resident Orcas feed on passing salmon in
the Strait of Georgia and the Gulf Islands;
and from July to September northern
resident Orcas feed in Johnstone Strait.
Urban paths and forest trails have been
drawing cycling enthusiasts to Vancouver
for years. Options include pedalling leisurely
through Stanley Park and the University
of British Columbia campus or navigating
rugged trails on the North Shore. Rent a
bike to go on your own or sign up for a
guided adventure with companies such
as Cycle City Tours.
