CHAIR'S MESSAGE
A
s new chairman of the
board of directors for the
Pacific Salmon Foundation,
I am honoured to follow
the path of leadership carved out by my
predecessors. I was first introduced to
the Foundation five years ago through
the Recreational Fisheries Partnership
Program – an initiative that engages British
Columbia businesses from the recreational
fishing sector in raising funds for salmon
conservation. After introducing my
fishing lodge to the program, I knew I had
to become more involved with PSF, one of
the leading scientific-driven non-profits
working to conserve and restore
Pacific salmon.
As chairman, I see firsthand the hard
work PSF is doing to ensure the longevity
of this keystone species for future
generations. My eyes have been opened
to the strong bond and commitment PSF
holds within communities across British
Columbia and the Yukon, supporting over
35,000 volunteers who are doing the hard
work on the ground to stand up and
protect Pacific salmon.
Salmon need our help more than ever,
and I have confidence in the Pacific Salmon
Foundation's ability to study and execute
the proper practices to tackle the wide
array of issues facing salmon today. As we
enter a new decade and begin to follow a
new Strategic Plan, PSF will continue
to be a "Voice for Salmon."
