Fall 20 1 9 23 A FOND FAREWELL TO JIM GRAY From 2004 through 2019, the mineral exploration industry saw what seemed like constant change – as mergers changed the corporate world and commodity price volatility was the norm. The BC & Yukon Chamber of Mines became the Association for Mineral Exploration British Columbia, and its annual Roundup conference grew in size and scope. Through this time, Jim Gray served the association as treasurer and chair of the Finance & Audit Committee. Gray, partner at the accounting firm De Visser Gray LLP, devoted countless hours overseeing AME's finances and providing guidance. The year before Gray became treasurer, the association sold its building on West Hastings Street, which provided AME with a degree of financial security, and Gray advised the board in the establishment of the Contingency Reserve Fund mechanism in the AME accounts to allow for the planned use of this and other historical surpluses. He has guided AME's investments through several financial cycles with an eye to keeping AME's assets well managed while also providing the association with the financial means to effectively advocate on behalf of mineral explorers. The AME board recognized Gray with the Gold Pan Award in 2009 for his dedicated service for AME. Now, 10 years later, we bid farewell to our longtime treasurer as he steps down from the post. We wish him all the best! ■ PHOTO: JIM GRAY 103-4401 Bristol Rd., Terrace BC | (250) 635-2659 | www.yxt.ca C A P A C I T Y • C O N N E C T I O N S • R E L I A B I L I T Y • S A F E T Y Capacity Executive board room, full service restaurant and vehicle rentals (National, Hertz, Budget & Driving Force) Connections Connections to Vancouver, Calgary, Prince George, Bob Quinn and Dease Lake with unrestricted aircraft accommodation including 757, 737 and 767 Reliability A state of the art instrument landing system upgraded in 2015 allowing for 99.7% reliability of scheduled fl ight completion Safety Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting Meziadin Junction 2 hrs 30 mins Port Edward 1 hr 30 mins Kitimat 35 mins Terrace 15 mins JUST A SHORT DRIVE AWAY GET CONNECTED THROUGH THE NORTHWEST REGIONAL AIRPORT NW Airport.indd 1 2017-11-02 2:05 PM Precision Petrographics Ltd. 604.282.7333 | www.precisionpetrographics.com – Polished Thin Sections – Kimberlites – Thin Sections – Polished Thick Sections – Core Display Boxes – Display Polishing – Fluid Inclusion – Petrographic Descriptions 203 - 20445 62 Avenue, Langley, BC V3A 5E6 Reinforce Relationships Created at Roundup All Year Long ContACt Alexander Sugden 604.473.0358 asugden@canadawide.com AwardHouse.indd 1 2017-05-11 3:34 PM
