But just six months after moving in, Leigh Walker met his soon-tobe wife, Margaret, and it wasn't long before the couple was contemplating trading up to a larger, family-friendly space. Reluctant to give up their central location and relocate to the suburbs, Leigh and Margaret held out – and when a lucky opportunity presented itself in 2007 to purchase the neighbouring condo, the savvy duo jumped on it. The plan? To turn two urban condos into one amazing home for them, their three dogs, Kona, Hank and Ruby, and any new additions that might arrive in the coming years. It seemed as simple as taking a sledgehammer to the walls. Deconstructing the apartment next door would nearly double the 1,150-squarefoot space into a two-bedroom, two-bathroom, 2,050-square-foot luxury loft.
