For more information visit www.papercalculator.org. In our last edition, we tackled cannabis and driving, and shared our intention for BCAA to be a voice for road safety post-legalization. We've had numerous requests for more "no cannabis and driving" decals, and many messages appreciating the information. Others expressed worries, including concerns that we were equating driving on cannabis to drinking and driving. Some wondered why we singled out cannabis when there are other substances that can affect a motorist's ability to drive safely. Although substances affect people in different ways, anything that negatively impacts a person's ability to drive safely is dangerous. BCAA is focusing on cannabis because it will soon be legal, and we're preparing for a new era of road safety. We're still learning about the impact of cannabis on driving, but one thing we already know is that traffic authorities are reporting a rise in deaths linked to cannabis in Canada, and in US states where it's legal. BCAA recently conducted research with more than 1,000 British Columbian drivers – in person through focus groups and through online surveys – to dig deeper into views on driving high. We continue to be concerned by the attitude of some cannabis users who drive high and don't see a problem with it. We need your help with shaping a new attitude that high driving is impaired driving. We feel it is our imperative as BC's auto club to take up this cause. The more we hear from you, and the more research we do, the more passionate we feel about this topic – so look for more from us on this subject in the months ahead. To all of you who put decals on your cars: we appreciate your support. Let's keep our roads safe. Cannabis and Safe Driving: Thanks for the Feedback Member Consumer Magazine Division
