CORPORATE SUPPORT KINDER MORGAN MAKES A SPLASH Since 2014, the Pacific Salmon Foundation has participated in Trans Mountain's public consultation process and consistently identified salmon as an essential cultural and ecological component of B.C. In 2017, Kinder Morgan donated $2.5 million to PSF programs to help ensure their survival. "This investment to protect wild Pacific salmon is a key pillar of our commitment to construct our project responsibly and leave meaningful long-term legacies for B.C.," says Ian Anderson, president of Kinder Morgan Canada. "I respect and value [PSF's] independence and science- based perspective and we are proud to build on our past support for Pacific salmon and other important regional programs that advance research and conservation of B.C.'s unique freshwater and coastal ecosystems." TAKES THE LEAD Canada's largest diversified resource company, Teck Resources has been a fixture at the Vancouver Gala & Auction. This year, Teck stepped up support by becoming lead sponsor of the Gala. "Protecting and enhancing biodiversity is one of our key areas of focus as a responsible resource company," says Don Lindsay, Teck's president and CEO. "Our employees live and work in places across B.C., and they know the importance of fish and wildlife to aquatic ecosystems and to our communities. Partnering with PSF is part of Teck's commitment in helping to maintain these resources for generations to come." SPONSORS PUSH GALA TO NEW HEIGHTS The Vancouver Gala is PSF's largest fundraiser of the year. In 2017, it reached a new high, netting $300,000 in support of community-led wild salmon projects. We thank the volunteers and attendees who made this possible, and our many generous cash sponsors and live auction donors, including: Bridgeview Marine; Finest at Sea, F.A.S. Seafood Producers; Helijet; King Pacific Lodge; Langara Fishing Adventures; and Rocky Mountaineer. "Helijet has supported the Pacific Salmon Foundation for over a decade. As a business, we see our sustainability as linked to the success of our fishing lodge clients and the satisfaction of their guests. If Pacific salmon stocks are allowed to dwindle, so too will the number of their customers and our clients," says Danny Sitnam, president & CEO for Helijet. "Every year, during the Vancouver Gala, we are honoured in positioning one of our Sikorsky S-76 helicopters on the Vancouver Convention Centre's west deck, liveried in PSF's logo and assorted salmon images, along with donating a unique prize for the live auction. We also purchase a table. It's a great way to network with our clients and the many other stakeholders involved in salmon conservation, and just a really enjoyable way to support the cause."
