It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our destination. Vancouver is a city like no other. Here, the Pacific Ocean laps up against the sparkling glass towers of downtown. The mountains are so close you can be hiking, skiing or at a scenic lookout within 20 minutes, and there is a 1,000-acre temperate rainforest (Stanley Park) in the city centre. The year ahead is an exciting one in Vancouver. In 2018 and 2019 we will welcome many major sports events including the annual HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series – Canada Sevens Vancouver, the inagural NCAA Vancouver Showcase basketball tournament, the 2018 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final, the 2019 World Junior Hockey Championships and the 2019 NHL Draft. We are especially pleased to welcome visitors from China during the official 2018 Canada-China Year of Tourism. We also warmly welcome convention delegates from all corners of the globe during what is a record year for the meetings industry in our city. During your stay, I encourage you to see and do everything Vancouver has to offer – from the landmark attractions, museums and cultural institutions; to exploring our neighbour- hoods, parks and beaches; and tasting our world-renowned food, craft beer and B.C. wine. If you lose your way, ask a local. I guarantee you'll end up with many more "must do" experiences on your list than when you arrived. Welcome to Vancouver! Ty Speer President & CEO, Tourism Vancouver Tourism Vancouver
