A PR IL 2018 | 31 Hard Surface Flooring "When replaced by LVT, the floor system can lose performance in the range of 15 to 20 dB," says Beth Lee, senior development and project manager. "To provide acoustic comfort to occupants below, Maxxon has cre- ated a new sound control mat, which is specifically designed for multifamily renovation projects. Acousti-Top, a topical sound mat comprised of a proprietary blend of acoustical fibres, offers impressive sound control in a 1.6-millimetre sound mat." Acousti-Top is designed to be installed over the existing subfloor and meet sound code without adding to the height of the floor. It is universally compatible with a variety of flooring types, adhesives and installation methods. Acousti-Top can also meet code in new concrete, multifamily construction. Some of the tried and true systems offered by Marr Industrial Coatings include urethane and epoxy. "They are still good value and do a great job," says Frank Marr, manager. "We use them anywhere from office buildings to manufacturing plants to aerospace, but we have found a lot of commercial and office space areas are going away from carpet and tile and going to a polished concrete look, or what we call a metallic floor look that has a random cloudy look on the floor." Marr says one client traditionally had tile and carpet on the floor and they stripped that out and replaced it with a decorative epoxy surface. "It comes in different colours and designs, and one of the attractions of this product is its cleanliness. Epoxy is easier to clean with low maintenance; just soap and water cleanup. The epoxy system is also easier to maintain than tiles. The lifespan of an epoxy floor should range from 10 to 20 years, depending on the usage." More than just a design element, grout is a critical component of any tile instal- lation system's overall performance. Bostik recognizes the importance of grout to an installation, and has developed a range of grout solutions that allow you to select products offering the ultimate performance. "Bostik's EzPoxy EzClean grout offers superior stain and chemical resistance," says Michelle Swiniarski, market manager – Tile & Stone Installation Systems. "Its dense matrix makes it easy to maintain so it can be used in demanding installa- tions such as hospitals, restaurants, spas, swimming pools and steam rooms." She adds EzPoxy EzClean has been formulated with an advanced binder system that offers superior thermal shock resistance and remarkable ease of initial clean-up. Swiniarski notes pre-mixed grouts offer the best of all worlds. "No messy mixing and it's ready to use. Simply open, stir and apply. Start and stop the job at any time by closing the lid tightly. Dimension RapidCure and TruColor Rapidcure offer great stain resistance and may be exposed to water in just three days. These products also offer clean-as-you-go technology, which speeds installation time." Bostik's Hydroment Vivid is a rapid curing, premium grade, cement-based grout for demanding commercial and residential projects. Hydroment Vivid offers consistent colour technology with enhanced stain and efflorescence protection. It is both fibre reinforced and has rapid curing, which offers early strength development for demanding, high-performance instal- lations. Hydroment Vivid exceeds requirements of ANSI A118.7. For use in grout joints 1 ∕16-inch to ½-inch, this grout offers a long pot life, followed by a quick set time for those jobs that require short down times and early foot traffic. Hydroment Vivid offers superior applica- tion properties and exceptional cleanability. A Acousti-Top topical sound mat from Maxxon. Dimension RapidCure grout from Bostik Canada.
