OCTOBER 2017 | 39 Faucets He explains that on the website people can choose the series, pick the product, the choices of colour fin- ishes, the accent options, handle options and pop-up assemblies. Visitors to the site can play with almost unlimited options and once all sections are chosen, prices are shown and specs are visible. Finally, the design can be saved and sent to designers or custom- ers. "This is a game changer in the industry because it has never been done, and we also have some interest- ing options on our price book," says Luisi. "Even though the chrome finish remains fairly strong, we have been seeing a significant increase in other finishes, not only in colour but, in particular matt black and satin brass being the preferred choice by the design community," he says. "I think it's mostly due to not only wanting a change from the chrome, but the popularity of some of the tile, porcelain, in white, light greys or a combination of the two such as Statuario or Carrara marble, which marry perfectly with these finishes. I believe that these finishes are very much in the growing stage and will be around for a long time to come." Grohe expands its collection of RetroFit shower sys- tems in fall 2017 with the addition of four new models to complement the existing extensive collection. "The new additions include two 18-inch and two 25-inch bars, and two different shower arm lengths to accom- modate shower heads of various diameters," says Maria Bosco. "All four models are available in Grohe StarLight chrome and brushed nickel." For anyone interested in upgrading their shower, the Retrofit is a simple solution at a reasonable cost because you don't have to remove any tile. "An easy-to-follow online installation video allows con- sumers to update their shower in an hour. The Retrofit replaces the existing shower arm and head, and pro- vides a hand shower that is adjustable on the shower bar. The convenient hand shower is perfect for anyone that cannot stand in the shower, children, pets and gen- eral maintenance of the shower stall," Bosco explains. Doug Sproule, COO, fluid faucets notes the basin fau- cet has been around for centuries and has been reimag- ined countless times, from utilitarian and basic to fans, waterfalls and fountains. "New necessary constraints on water usage are fueling a huge design drive, creat- ing new basin faucets that remain beautiful, innova- tive and functional, while making the most of our most precious resource: water," he says. "It is an important challenge that will protect resources for generations to come. Imagine explaining to your grandchildren that you are sorry that their fresh drinking water supply is in danger, but that you just had to have that cool, multi- layered waterfall faucet that created a lovely mood using 20 gallons of water every time you washed your hands or brushed your teeth!" Sproule says the key to managing water in the bath- room is aerators. "Fluid aerators limit water flow but literally add air and velocity to the flow to ensure a maximum drenching experience, while using as lit- tle water as possible," he explains. "Plus with the huge range of basins out there, splash back is a huge issue. Fluid's swivel aerators allow you to easily direct water flow where you need it, eliminating this issue. Challenges will always arise, but design is the key to creating relaxing, functional environments where we love to live."
