40 | AUGUST 2017 Bathtubs & Showers "GROHE TurboStat technology pro- vides the SmartControl shower system with a thermo-element that delivers water at the desired temperature within a fraction of a second, and keeps it con- sistent for the duration of your shower," says Bosco. "This mean less water waste and safety from scalding. Plus, GROHE CoolTouch technology removes the risk of scalding by preventing the exposed metal surfaces from ever becoming hot- ter than the water temperature." This all-in-one solution not only impresses with its innovative technolog y, its organic design also makes a stylish statement in the bathroom and sets the tone for a relaxed shower experience. The Spectra shower collection from American Standard offers a selection of showering fittings that combine innovation, function and style. "The Spectra collec- tion includes a full range of showering solutions including a rainshower head, a fixed showerhead and a handheld showerhead, all featuring multiple spray patterns," says Michael Del Guidice, marketing director, LIXIL Water Technology Canada for American Standard Brands. "These units offer a pulsating massage spray to provide relaxation, a drench pattern that soaks the full body, a sensitive fine spray that feels soft to the skin and a powerwash that gives a powerful sheet spray to sweep away dirt." The Spectra showerheads also offer a unique Duo 2-in-1 showerhead and hand shower with a large shoulder-to-shoulder spray to create an immersive showering experience, coupled with a multi-pattern handheld shower that can be detached from the showerhead. "Most notably, the Spectra Touch showerhead allows you to simply touch the outer showerhead ring to change between spray patterns, and the Spectra eTouch option can be operated with an easy-to-use remote that activates with click of a but- ton," says Del Guidice. "The Spectra Touch and eTouch ensure users maximize the range of spray patterns to enjoy their showering experience to the fullest." The design team at Sustainable Solutions International knows the concept of per- fect shower design is ever changing, influenced by evolving styles, but also depen- dant largely upon the balance between opportunities created by new technologies and the need to conserve water. Large numbers of shower sprays and huge water- fall tub spouts of the 1990s have gone out of favour, making way for shower systems that optimize smaller volumes of water without sacrificing luxury, and technologi- cally advanced valves that simply do more. As Doug Sproule explains of fluid faucets, "fluid features new thermostatic and pressure balanced rough-ins that control water temperature and feature two or three water diverters all in one valve. So from a single trim kit you can operate your showerhead, shower wand or tub spout without the need for extra trims or divert- ers cluttering the clean lines of shower walls." He adds the height of luxury now is seen more as simple, effective and minimal- istic design. "We want shower environments to create an oasis of calm," he says. "Shower stalls from the past often looked more like jetliner cockpits, teaming with overt technology – often ugly, cluttered and intimidating to use. Let's face it, nobody wants to have to read an owner's manual to operate their shower. Today's options have an added bonus because you are now paying for fewer valves and trims, so high-end beautifully designed shower environments are now less expensive." Robinson Lighting & Bath Centre offers many options for bath and shower enjoy- ment, including a selection of showerheads that range from industrial to new age. "The Brizo Litze Raincan is an industrial-looking showerhead that is right at home in any modern or urban industrial bathroom," says Terri Pasitney, inside sales expert at Robinson Lighting & Bath. "The classic look is both simple and sophisticated. With four spray settings, comfort always comes first." For designers and consumers who are looking for a basic product with per- formance but no frills, the Delta Water Efficient H20kinetic is a good choice. "Showerheads in the H20kinetic series are designed with a water-saving wave pat- tern that actually feels like more water," says Pasitney. Those looking for an elegant touch, the Dornbracht MEM in rose gold finish gives a rain shower experience with elements of old and new. "We've seen a major resur- gence in rose gold lately throughout the home, and the unique finish has found its way into the shower. Combined with the newer trends of wide and flat design, this unit's square head design and multiple spray options make showering a unique experience." Another innovative GROHE product offered at Robinson is the Power & Soul hand shower. "This features a button clicker to easily switch between sprayer set- tings," Pasitney explains. "There's a setting to match your mood from an invigorat- ing morning jet, or a calming jungle rain to ease away the day." A SmartControl Rainshower system. PHOTOGRAPHY COURTESY GROHE CANADA INC.
