JULY/AUGUST 2017 BCBUSINESS 111
Sam Wainwright owns and operates
Rene and Design Custom Homes and Renovations, a
busy contracting rm he runs from a neatly appointed
ofice in Vancouver's Coal Harbour. The company
o•ers a suite of building and renovation services for
homeowners, and for bars, restaurants and other busi-
nesses. It's a menu that keeps Wainwright's phone ring-
ing and his whiteboard covered corner-to-corner with
details of upcoming and ongoing projects.
On any given day, Reine and Design will have
about 10 jobs on the go, with 80 to 90 people working
on-site—17 full-time employees and dozens of subcon-
tractors. Five-star online reviews on Facebook, Google,
Yelp, Houzz and HomeStars help to push new business
through the door. Wainwright gures his company will
reach $3 million in sales for 2017, but it took years of
expensive trial and error to get here.
