SUMMER LIKE A LOCAL Bella Pacifica Campground, Phil Sorensen, Megan Dunn SUMMER 2017 BCA A .COM 15 Bella Pacifica Resort and Campground, Tofino. A cross the province, there are special spots where BC locals flock when the weather warms up – but outsiders are often none the wiser. Here are six you'll want to check out this summer: Paul's Tomb, Kelowna This one takes a hike, which is why not many tourists stumble upon it – but the secluded beach and picnic spot (named for Rembler Paul, an eccentric pioneer who built a tomb for his family here in the early 1900s) on Okanagan Lake is worth the two-kilometre tramp through Knox Mountain Park, north of downtown. Moses Falls, Revelstoke The perfect roadside oasis to get refreshed. Locals love this 14-metre-high waterfall for its stepped granite on a south-facing bank of the Columbia River – ideal for cooling off and catching rays (also a primo view of the Revelstoke Dam.) It's located on the outskirts of town: hang a right off the Trans-Canada onto Westside Road and go about six clicks. The trail is an easy five-minute jaunt downhill. –Peter Worden Farwell Canyon, Williams Lake Home to BC's largest sand dune and a spectacular series of hoodoos, this Chilcotin River canyon is a wild and untrammelled slice of Interior beauty. Most visitors zip by without making the short detour from Hwy. 20 (the turnoff is 45 km west of Williams Lake, onto a gravel road). But locals in the know come here to soak up the view, hike and dig their feet in the sand. Continued on p.17 Hiking in Glacier National Park.
