J UNE 2017 | 47 PHOTOGRAPHY COURTESY LSI NORTH AMERICA Resilient Flooring In order to keep pace with market demand, Torlys is proud to introduce the lat- est EverWood Designer collection – the most innovative luxury vinyl floor yet. EverWood Designer features the latest in styling, including amazingly realistic wood grains and on trend colours ranging from soft greys to rich browns, in extra- long 72-inch by seven-inch wide planks. "EverWood Designer comes with the best warranty in the business, including a limited pet proof warranty, ensuring your flooring investment stays beautiful for years to come," says Gencher. Navigating a large scale facility is a challenge especially in hospitals where peo- ple are often under stress and anxious about where they need to be. LSI Floors provides two options that simplify how directional information is communicated – large format Custom Printing on high-performance vinyl flooring, and a unique mobile app, WayFind, that uses the smart device already in the visitor's hand. "LSI's large format Custom Printing takes any flooring graphic developed to colour code specific areas or provides directional lines along corridors and prints it into 10-foot wide and up to 50-foot long sheets of commercial grade vinyl," says Rick Moffatt, creative director and president of LSI Floors. "Whatever the design, it will appear under a 2mm thick wear layer that will stand the test of time and the thousands, or millions, of feet that will walk over it." Enhancing what is printed on the floor, LSI has developed WayFind, a mobile app that allows the visitor to hold a map of where they are going right in the palm of their hand. LSI WayFind simply and easily guides visitors to where they need to be using only the camera in a smart phone or tablet. No Bluetooth, beacons or outside interference. With the App loaded onto the smart device via a QR code at the entrance or through a link sent with appointment information, the visitor is able to navigate from where they enter the hospital to where they need to be via an interactive map. Nora systems, Inc. introduces norament arago, a premium rubber floor covering balancing elemental textures with sustainable modern design. The calming effect of layered, geological forms in a contemporary surface is captured in the new floor- ing. Offering a modern range of cool grey shades, from rich and exciting to soft and neutral, the esthetic reflects tones found throughout nature. "Often, busy health-care and education public spaces are faced with dual chal- lenges of heavy traffic and noise," says Tim Cole, VP of marketing at nora systems, Inc., North America. "The dimensional detail and exceptional construction of nora- ment arago creates an atmosphere of calm in every environment." Norament arago marries a marbled strata look with unrivaled sound absorption, slip resistance and ergonomic comfort, as well as the low-maintenance benefits of pre- mium rubber flooring material. The floor covering also offers important attributes, including quality slip resistance to create safer spaces; quiet acoustical performance attenuates unwanted noise; ergonomic design that provides additional comfort underfoot, reducing foot and leg pain; low maintenance with little more than water need for cleaning; and healthy indoor air quality is achieved with low-VOC emissions. Paired with the possibility of self-adhesive nora nTx, norament arago also lends harmony to construction schedules, cutting installation time in half without sacri- ficing performance. Proper installation of resilient flooring is paramount, and Mapei's new Ultrabond ECO 373 has been specifically formulated to provide extended working time (up to 12 hours). It can be applied using a trowel or roller, depending on the level of tack that is required for the flooring that is being installed. JD Eckmire, director of sales, Western Canada for Mapei says ECO 373 meets a strong need in the industry to accommodate a surge in the resilient market with Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) and Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) product lines. "These two particular products are growing exponentially in the market, both residentially, commercially and are also being used in the hospitality industry," Eckmire explains. "Because the category is growing so aggressively, there has been a very high demand for an adhesive like 373 that meets the needs of many different products and a vari- ety of different material and manufacturers requirements." Eckmire says that in addition to the extended open time, the 373 has a high ini- tial tack which enables a much faster and more efficient installation. "This allows installers to spread out an entire room or large surface area, then go back into the adhesive and start laying right away. Also with other adhesives, a short open time requires the installers to lay down the floor within 30 to 40 minutes whereas with this product, they can spread out a large retail space, for example. Essentially they can spread out a large surface area then they can start installing LVT or LVP with- out having to worry about the Eco 373 adhesive losing its tack." He adds the LVT and LVP products have come a long way in the design charac- teristics and people are hard-pressed to tell whether it's ceramic tile or wood.
