salmon Steward magazine 33 2016 Financials Notes NON GOVERNMENT REVENUE Pacific Salmon Endowment Fund Society: These funds contribute to the core operations of the Pacific Salmon Foundation, enabling at least 90 per cent from other donations to be applied directly to Pacific salmon conservation, restoration and enhancement projects. The Society is also a major contributor to the Salish Sea Marine Survival Project and Community Salmon Program. Other: This category includes other non-profit partners that provide critical support. Some major supporters include: the Sitka Foundation for the Salish Sea Marine Survival Project and the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation for scientific research and fisheries governance projects in the Skeena Watershed. FUNDRAISING & EVENTS REVENUE Donations: This category under-reports actual donations because the Foundation uses deferred contribution accounting, which only records revenues once expenses have been incurred. In some cases, donations are received late in the year and are not utilized until the next fiscal year. OTHER REVENUE This revenue is derived from sta„ time and management fees billable to specific activities. This category also includes interest, miscellaneous revenues and other administrative fees. GOVERNMENT REVENUE Since 2012, 100 per cent of proceeds generated through sales of the Salmon Conservation Stamp have been directed to the Pacific Salmon Foundation by the federal government in support of the Community Salmon Program. From 1989 through 2016, in combination with part proceeds from the Commercial Fisheries Conservation Stamp, $12.2 million in revenue has been directed to 1,978 projects with a total value of $108.4 million once community funds and in-kind donations were included. CONSERVATION, EDUCATION & MANAGEMENT SERVICES Includes personnel and other costs associated with major project management, stakeholder relations and communications with governments. OVERHEAD EXPENSES Includes facility and infrastructure costs, as well as personnel and other costs associated with general administration.
