Safety Specialist program promotes workplace health and safety

"I would say that the most common threat to safety in business
today is too high a level of comfort," says the Dallas-based Motion
Industries (MI) safety specialist. "In industrial workplaces in particu-
lar, new fabrics and technologies provide more protection, but can also
create a sense of invincibility that can lead to unsafe practices and a
lack of attention to safety."
He says the Motion Industries Safety Specialist program was
developed to provide a resource for Motion branches and customers.
"Motion Industries has always achieved high levels of credibility
for the bearing and power transmission product categories. As the
push for vendor consolidation became more prevalent, our custom-
ers started asking us to provide the safety product offering as well.
This led to tremendous growth in the industrial and safety product
categories, and ultimately Motion needed to legitimize the category
with the specialist role," says Barbeau.
