Once the student completes the course work, he or she is eligible to write the corresponding examination. In order to write the examination, the student is required to, in advance, turn in a required form; the form requires the attaching of a passport- sized photograph of the student. Further photographic identification is required from the student at the time the examination is to be written. In the case at hand, a person claiming to be "Mr. R" had been turned away from writing the examination because the government- issued photo I.D. he presented did not match Mr. R's appearance. e person was referred to a lawyer or notary to get further assurances regarding identity. ISSUE To obtain and maintain registration (in this article, registration includes licensing), a broker must meet course and related examination requirements. What happens when a person other than the applicant writes a required examination? A 2016 order from the British Columbia Registrar of Mortgage Brokers (Registrar), while involving slightly different circumstances, provides considerable guidance.
