SPRING 2017 BCA A .COM 7 W elcome to our spring issue and the first edition of BCAA – your home, travel and automotive magazine. After many years, we have respectfully retired the Westworld name and added a new cover and design elements for a fresh look. We hope you like it. Spring is a season for new beginnings. Two years ago, on a chilly day in late March, we launched Evo Car Share. We wanted to connect with a younger generation who may not own cars but still want the freedom of mobility. Being local, we saw and filled a transportation gap in Vancouver by offering climate-friendly vehicles with room for people and things. Evo is certainly a growth story. Not only is it one of the fastest-growing car-share companies in North America, Welcome to BCAA Magazine your BCAA it has helped put Vancouver on the map as the city with the most free-floating car-share vehicles on the continent. By free-floating, we mean Evos can be picked up and dropped off anywhere in our Home Zone for ultimate convenience and accessibility. Evo has 1,000 cars in the fleet now, and Members have driven the equivalent of 14 return trips to the moon. We have been part of milestones – babies born, weddings, birthdays. We have taken people to the mountains and Ikea, connected friends to their city and helped make car sharing a regular part of how people get where they need and want to go in Vancouver. There are a number of reasons why Vancouverites are such heavy adopters of car sharing: the high density, the high cost of living and a young population with a passion for sustainable transportation and outdoor adventure. As Evo continues to grow and expand with demand, we want to help shape what's next for the biggest city in our province. How can Vancouver go from one of the fastest-growing car-share cities to the most innovatively mobile city? BCAA has a long history of revolutionizing mobility in this province. In fact, 110 years ago, it was founded by 12 car owners in Victoria (the only car owners there at the time), who formed a club to share cars and information. Keeping British Columbians on the move is what we do. It's in our DNA, and we will continue to drive what's next. Happy spring! Shom Sen President & CEO
