Late one hot afternoon, as we were passing through the little town of Barriere, a spoke broke. What to do? There was no bike shop, no transit, no cab. Kamloops – the nearest city – was 65 km away. I'd been a BCAA Member since 1968, so Roadside Assistance came to mind. Not really expecting help, I called anyhow. I explained the situation, and the operator said a truck would be there within the hour. And it was. The driver cinched our bikes to his flat deck and dropped us off at a Kamloops bike shop. Now that's service! –Michael Clague Out of the Wild This August, we stayed overnight at a resort on Tunkwa Lake, BC, after a wedding reception. When we went to leave in the morning, our car wouldn't start. We were basically in the middle of nowhere. I would be lying if I didn't admit to a bit of panic setting in. After several attempts to start the car, we called BCAA. A very kind driver came out and towed the car to a garage at nearby Logan Lake. We were able to leave the car there and catch a ride home with friends who had also stayed at the resort. I'm not sure what we would have done that day without our Membership. Thank you, BCAA! –Patricia Buckham
